During a recent conversation with a few clients, they surprised me by remarking, "Well, search really isn't all that innovative."

Their rationale: for the better part of the last 10 years, there have been only three engines (and depending on your budget, you may only be working with one) and their offerings have remained more or less the same.

We saw the same headline, based on data issued by StatCounter from Thursday. These data reportedly show that yesterday the share of searches went like this:

Google: 71.47 percent
Bing: 16.28 percent
Yahoo: 10.22 percent

In the future, my dad will be a blogger. He'll create wikis. He'll have his work translated into languages spoken across Europe, Asia, and South America. He'll accomplish it effortlessly with Google Wave. I watched the 80-minute developer preview of Wave, and it's going to make nearly everyone a social media creator.

The launch of Microsoft’s rebranded search engine “bing” on the 1st of June has left me completely speechless. Not through admiration I hasten to add but because it’s all been done so badly! This has to be the web equivalent of rubbernecking at a car crash - so please drive carefully.
