Digital strategy, design, technology and marketing company HUGE has promoted Joe Stewart to the position of Executive Creative Director. Stewart, who has until now serves as creative director, is currently leading the company's redesign of Target's retail platform, which is slated to debut in late 2011. He has spearheaded the design of Pepsi's "Refresh" platform, which was recently honored with a Cannes Lion.

A federal judge in Los Angeles has handed Google a significant victory in a copyright infringement lawsuit brought by adult entertainment company Perfect 10. In a ruling issued earlier this week, U.S. District Court Judge A. Howard Matz largely cleared Google for allegedly displaying links in search results to sites that infringe Perfect 10's copyright. Matz found that in many cases, Perfect 10 hadn't provided the search company with detailed enough information to be able to easily remove the pirated material.

Here's the good news: Average broadband speed has now reached 4.7 Mbps, up from 3.9 Mbps last year, according to Akamai's first quarter report. But here's the bad news: Speeds in the U.S. are slower than in 15 other countries, including South Korea (12 Mbps), Romania (6.3 Mbps), and Switzerland (5.3 Mbps).
